"Freaky Fun and Flow" by mike palpatorious:
What a great time at Bedlam...excellent bass player, amazing spoken word play, some sort of loop machine and vocal effects, and a party atmosphere. They even did Revolution Will Not Be Televised by Gil Scott Heron and said that they do that in bars in Madison, where they are from...crazy. Gotta check it out, goes down great with a few beers at the Bedlam bar. For music lovers and spoken word freaks...

"These guys eat rock gardens and drink mescaline juice." by Matt Weerts:
This was a show that reminded me of what this festival is for. I dont know if you can count beat poetry as a fringe activity as it is a part of our musical-literary deal pretty thick, but I love the books (Jack, William, Allen) and I had never seen a band doing it. It was on the page for me only until this show. I am their target audience, so maybe I am biased, but what the hell, it was amazing. We had to leave two songs before the end, so I might go back and hear them again. I would definitely say you all should as well. The range of the songs, even though they fall in the same general vacinity, was also impressive. There was even a dog walking around the bedlam while they played.

"Loved it" by Fluffy Singler:
Those people who think spoken word and performance poetry is all just poetry slam need to get out more. And this would be a great start. These guys need sell out shows the entire rest of the run so that they'll come back! Then again, in about 2 or 3 months I plan to steal a whole bunch of stuff they did, so then they'd probably kick my ass if they do come back. But I digress. They had an awesome stage set up that really set the mood -- complete with trippy incense burning things -- cool sound and mic effects that most spoken word performers don't think to use and that really added a lot to the performance. Adam's "costume" was great. The whole ensemble was great and clearly love what they do, and the audience really felt that. At least, my partner and I did. Go see this one. And then hang out and have a beer with the dudes later.

"...jumped the tracks." by simon piler:
I really enjoyed the show, particularly for the raw sense that goes so well with the Bedlam's warm yet simple vibrations. It's also nice to hear a different form of storytelling (a true american art form, after all...) "I went to see Gary Snyder and how he tied his shoes, but he wore boots without any laces."

"Relax and Feel The High!" by Richard Shields:
I went to this show as a schedule filler. I also thought that it would take me out of my comfort zone a bit. I was almost at once "wowed" by the music. The music, when combined with the words and the personalities of the performers blended to create both a mellow performance and yet at the same time an intensely engaging one. You had a bit of the beatnik era sound, some 60's vibes and some great blue moments. This event felt like a musical bacchanal!

"Pour me a Summit!" by Monte Jarvis:
These guys know how to take a good buzz and make it swirl.

"A great Fringe surprise" by Florence Brammer:
I'm so glad I acted on a hunch and spontaneously dropped in on this show. The original material was great, and it was a thrill to hear the Ferlinghetti piece, too. Really committed performances with great music and text.
